California Screamin’ 5 was great, as expected. It was a bit cloudy, but the cool weather felt good. Great looking cars lined the streets, as artists set up booths on the sidewalks. The 6 ft. tall Rat Fink was outstanding, amazing work by Odd Rodney McLellan and Jason “3 Sheets” Janes.
I shot using my film camera, so new photos wont be up until a little later, gonna get a negative scanner at some point this week. A little hiccup while shooting, kind of a noob mistake, but a little push processing can fix that.
I wish I could say more about the show, but really, you had to be there!!

Well, the time has come. Cali Screamin’ is upon us. In less than 12 hours, one bad ass Art/Car show is going down in El Segundo, CA. If you like classic cars and Kustom Kulture, be there. If you like low brow art, be there. If you like hobnobbing with great groups of artists and gear heads, be there. Just, be there.
Yours truly will be in attendance along with a great group of people. I HIGHLY recommend checking this out. It’s at Gasoline Gallery in El Segundo, CA. Flier below.

Well, the matting is being cut and the frames are ready. Two of my photographs are to be submitted either this Saturday or Sunday for the California Screamin’ 5 show that’s going down this May. I was hoping to turn in about 3 or 4 but could only scrounge up 2. They’re not new, but they fit the show. They’ll be squeezed into a corner somewhere on the limited wall space hopefully. There is going to be a TON of artwork ranging from paintings, to photographs, to sculptures in the gallery. The street will be blocked off for the amazing craftsmanship displayed in the form of hot rods, rat rods, motorcycles and all around custom rides from the 60s and earlier.
I was told there is no guarantee that my shots will be up, but because the owner approached me as a friend to get something submitted to him, they have a fighting chance. Fingers crossed. I thought I was nervous before, but now, I’m all pins and needles.
Gonna see if I can get to dabble in shooting with some pin up style photos next. Any volunteers? Haha.
Show Flyer:

I’m part of the “& More!!” in the list of artists lol.
Until next time folks.

It’s easy for people with health care to complain about the passing of this bill. Ever stop to think about the citizens of this nation with life threatening disorders/disabilities that have been denied coverage because of the current state of healthcare? I’m a hemophiliac, which falls under the “Pre existing Condition” excuse for insurance companies to pick and choose who they cover. They prefer to cover people that are healthy, so that way they get their money and not have to do anything for that person as far as health care goes. Their perfect candidate for coverage is someone that doesn’t need it. All premium, no risk.
My medicine costs $1,000 per vial at 24 vials every two months. Tell me, how is a person to live with that kind of expense hanging over their head without the aid of health coverage? Sure, there are government sponsored programs, but remember, you’ve aligned yourself with the same group of people that complain about their taxes paying for that as well. Could you swallow having to pay over 100,000 dollars a year for a prescription out of pocket? This bill may not be perfect, but it’s better than nothing. Maybe your politicians should donate those bonuses they got from Aetna, Cigna and Pfizer to some of these programs.
Stricter regulation on the healthcare system to provide for the many that need it, at the cost of some bureaucrats’ wallets getting thinner. Hmmmm…… that’s a tough one. Try stepping into the shoes of someone that’s been waiting a lifetime for something like this to happen, then tell me how you feel about this reform.

Well, the road trip was a somewhat fruitless endeavor. I got stuck going alone, so I was pretty much very bored, which drove away almost all ambition to shoot. The Route 66 photo is actually the only thing I shot. I shot it with my 40D, the EOS 1n, and my Blackbird. Yeah, that’s how bored I was, I shot the same scene with 3 cameras. Oh well. I’m not gonna give up on this chance. I’ll submit some of my older work for this show. I have some negatives to go through that should have some unprinted work I could mess with. Hopefully they didn’t shut down La Foto yet…
I’m also gonna look around to see if there are any photo walks here in LA, maybe bounce some ideas of like minded photographers and shoot LA as well. Most, if not all, of my friends are either graffiti artists or prefer paint over film, so not many photo buddies.
I need to get out of this rut though, it’s what killed drawing for me…

Well well well. Time to break the silence of yet another stretch of inactivity on this page. So I’ll be going on a road trip to get some material for my submissions to California Screamin’ 5 this year in El Segundo, CA. It will be held, as always, at Gasoline Gallery. So, this road trip will take me from Ludlow, CA to the San Joaquin Valley Cemetery north of Los Banos and back to Los Angeles. Joining me on this trip will be “The Commodore” himself Clyde B. Gonna burn some film and kill some bytes with our varied array of cameras.

So, it’ll be a busy and, hopefully, productive weekend for me.
Well, the holiday season is almost at an end. Shopping is done, gifts to be wrapped, in newspaper and painters tape. However, the holiday cheer and mood all together escapes me this year. Strange how an entire day can change to a bitter moment with the uttering of one sarcastic comment. Tis’ the season I guess.

I had a lengthy post about how I don’t have anything to show as of yet and why. But it got deleted.
FML.
Spring semester is just about through. Taking portrait photography in the summer starting the 22nd of June. Right now working on my final project for my B & W Printing class so its been hectic. Not much sleep as of late but once this final is printed and mounted I can rest for a little bit.
I have posted a few more photos on my DeviantArt. Just a few shots from California Screamin’ 4 in May. I will upload the images from my final as well once I can find a proper scanner for negative film. Those will be found on DevArt as well.
Oh yeah, and I’m applying for Medical Use Marijuana as well. Busy Busy Busy, I deserve something to help me relax haha.

Still getting used to the whole Wordpress thing as well as finding time to update posts instead of just work on shots.
As the title states, this post is on failure. I missed the deadline for both the student expo as well as California Screamin’ 4. I’m still kicking myself for not getting my shit in gear on time for these shows because they could have been turning points for me and my work.
After returning from my trip from the Salton Sea I had very few shots to work with. Out of about 213 shots, I only settled on four that I liked well enough to edit and submit them to DeviantArt. These four images are as follows:
Salty Dog Ford
Greens and Yellows
Salted Wreck
Salty Branches
The shots made with my film cameras weren’t all that special either. The mamiya still has an almost new roll of 120 still in. This is due, inpart, to my forgetfulness. You see, I forgot to take my film with me. It sat nice and cold in my fridge while I was in the dessert for 3 days.
This post is long enough. Until next time.
